Wonolo connects independent contractors (Wonoloers) with temporary job opportunities posted by businesses (Requestors). We love when Wonoloers who are interested in employment can obtain it from the businesses we partner with. Providing contractual services to a business that you have found via the Wonolo app does not indicate or guarantee that you will be offered employment at that company. Each business follows its own process regarding how and when to hire employees.
Here’s how to look into obtaining employment with a company:
Make a great impression on the job and get added to a Preferred team
Ask a hiring manager or Human Resources team member if the business is hiring employees, and what processes to follow to apply for employment
Search online job boards or corporate websites for open employment positions
Submit a job application or resume online, via the company’s website
Consider scheduling an appointment or interview through the appropriate corporate channels
Keep in mind, not all Requestors will be willing or prepared to discuss career opportunities during or after a Wonolo job. Please be respectful of the Requestors’ time, and mindful of any onsite protocols for applying for employment. In the event that a Requestor hires a Wonoloer as an employee, the Wonoloer may be eligible to receive a hiring bonus. Just reach out to let us know or report your new employment through the Wonoloer Hub by select Hiring Bonuses. As of August 15th, 2020, Wonoloers hired as employees in California will no longer be eligible for the hiring bonus.
You might forget to withdraw from a job when something comes up at the last minute, life happens. However, remembering to withdraw in these cases is crucial, because it allows us to open up your slot to another Wonoloer in your community. If you do not attend a job you have committed to, and forget to withdraw in the app, you will be marked as a no-show. A no-show will result in your account incurring 3 breach points, which leads to a permanent limited view of jobs and the removal from all accepted jobs. We want you to succeed on Wonolo. If your account receives 3 breach points, you’ll have an opportunity to complete Wonolo’s Second Chance Program. If you complete the program and pass the accompanying quiz, your limited view of jobs will be lifted. You can only complete the Second Chance Program a single time. To make the most of your experience on Wonolo and avoid issues that could impact your account, get familiar with our Breach of Contract policy. If you are unable to withdraw from a job you have accepted because of reasons beyond your control, please reach out to our Support Team and they will review the case.
Each person who signs up for Wonolo must maintain his or her own Wonolo account. If you suspect that someone else has accessed your Wonolo account without your permission, please notify our team immediately, so that our team can troubleshoot, reset, or close your account. If you suspect that your personal information has been accessed due to a theft or breach that occurred outside of Wonolo, you may want to immediately file a police report with your local precinct. Wonolo reserves the right to close any account and/or cancel any upcoming jobs due to suspicious activity, violation of Wonolo’s Privacy or Acceptable Use Policies, or breach of the Terms of Use.
A job may be cancelled for reasons that range from a policy-related conflict to a change in the Requestor’s staffing needs. Our Cancellation policy is designed to provide some security to Wonoloers who plan their day around an upcoming job, while allowing businesses some flexibility to adjust their jobs based on changing staffing needs.
You’ll be notified if you are cancelled out of a job, and in many cases, you’ll be able to accept a new job right away. Read on for more context around the different reasons why cancellations happen.
Change in Staffing Needs
A job can be canceled due to a change in a Requestor’s staffing needs. However, if your job is canceled within 12 hours of the posted start time, you will generally* receive a 50% cancellation payout (of the original pay posted), for the time and effort you put into preparing for the job.
You’ll then be able to pick up another available job right away.
Breach Point Incurred
If you withdraw from a job within 12 hours of the start time, ask a Requestor to cancel a job for you, or don’t show up to a job, you will receive breach points. Receiving any breach points results in the cancellation of upcoming jobs.
Depending on the breach, you will also have a limited view of jobs (at least 3 days) before you can pick another one up. Please review our Breach of Contract policy for more details.
Background Check Still Processing
If you accept a job that requires a background check, you will have to pass that background check after you’ve accepted the job but before you can actually start performing it. If you have started but not completed a background before the start of the job, you will be cancelled from the job. If it’s been more than a day, chances are our Background Check provider (Evident) has requested additional verification information from you to move forward. Double-check your inbox for an email from Wonolo Background Checks with required next steps for your Background Check to complete.
As soon as your Background Check clears, you can start accepting jobs again.
*In extreme and uncontrollable situations that make working conditions unsafe or impracticable, cancellation payouts may not be offered. These events can include fires, floods, other extreme weather, strikes, pandemics, war or civil unrest, or a prolonged shortage of energy supplies.
Whether you’ve moved recently or just need to make a minor change, updating your address is easy. Just follow these simple steps below to make sure you hear about new jobs being posted near you.
Here’s how to update your address:
Select the menu bar in the upper left corner on the app
Select Pay
Click on Edit in the upper right corner
Make the necessary changes by tapping into each field
Click Save
As a Wonoloer in California, you will still have the same access to the Wonolo app and your account will remain unchanged. You also may still accept jobs posted outside of California. However, given the limitations of AB5, we have made the tough decision to cease operations in California for all Wonoloers and Requestors, effective August 15th, 2020. There will no longer be California-based jobs available to accept on the Wonolo app that have a start time on or after August 15th, 2020. We have not made this decision lightly but have done so in order to protect businesses from the risks associated with the new legislation.
Unfortunately, Wonolo can’t provide you with tax advice. If you need reliable guidance you will need to consult an accountant or other appropriate professional. A 1099-MISC form is used for reporting certain types of income to the IRS - including independent contractor earnings. As specified by IRS regulations, for each tax year, you will only receive a 1099-MISC form from Wonolo if you earned at least $600 for work you accepted through the Wonolo platform.
Where are my earnings reported on the form?
The most relevant box for you and your taxes is Box 7: Nonemployee compensation. On your 1099, this is what it will look like:
What do I do with the information on my 1099-MISC?
Again - if you need tax advice, you’ll need to consult an accountant or other appropriate professional - everyone’s situation is different and, in any case, we’re not tax professionals.
With the above warning in mind, many contractors input the amount earned (as reported in Box 7 on your 1099) on the Schedule C. Schedule C is used to determine the contractor’s profit or loss. It's also where contractors can claim any tax deductions (like the Standard Mileage Rate, health insurance premiums, business supplies, etc).
After that, many contractors take the amount in personal business profit determined on Schedule C and plug it into a Schedule SE. The Schedule SE helps calculate the percentage owed in self-employment tax. That percentage, in turn, can be added to the contractor’s 1040 form (the form most people fill out to report income).
Again - you should not rely on any part of the above for tax advice.
Do I send my 1099 to the IRS?
If you need tax advice, you’ll need to consult an accountant or other appropriate professional - everyone’s situation is different and, in any case, we’re not tax professionals. Generally, contractors keep a copy of their 1099 and report their taxable income to the IRS income using Schedule C, Schedule SE and 1040.
The Internal Revenue Service has also launched a Gig Economy Tax Center on IRS.gov.
Wonolo badges empower you to show off your knowledge and skills to Requestors. Some Wonolo jobs may require specific badges in order to accept them. Some badges help you unlock more jobs, other badges are for bragging rights. Earn badges to make your Wonolo profile stand out from the rest! For a full list of badges you can earn, check out the Wonolo Badge Library. You can see badges you have already earned at any time at the bottom of your Profile, while logged into the app. If a badge is needed to unlock a particular job, you'll be shown how to earn it when you try to accept that job. Here are some of our most earned badges that Wonoloers get to unlock certain jobs: Workplace Hygiene Badge By earning the Workplace Hygiene badge, you learn about identifying the symptoms of COVID-19 and the best practices for promoting your health and that of the Wonolo community. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Badge Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are a series of general principles to be observed during manufacturing. Manufacturing companies use them to guarantee the quality of their products. Earning the GMP Badge if required for certain food handling jobs.
Once you accept a job, you can contact the Requestor for that job through Wonolo's in-app messaging up until the job has been approved.
Before the job starts, make sure you’re prepared by reviewing the full description of the job and by planning your commute. If you still have questions about the job or need to update the Requestor while you’re on the way there, use our in-app messaging.
Here’s how to contact a Requestor:
Open your menu on the Wonolo app
Select My Jobs
Find the job you are trying to reach out for
View more options by clicking the 3 dots icon in the upper right corner
Select Message
Write your message to the Requestor, then send
Remember, if you are not able to make it to a job you accepted, make sure to withdraw from it. You cannot use in-app messaging to ask a Requestor to cancel a job for you. Doing so will result in your account incurring 1 breach point, following our Breach of Contract policy.
Once you complete a job, you can track the status of your pay through the Pay tab in the app. You’ll receive payments from Wonolo as ACH transfers (direct deposit).
Here’s what each payment status means:
Completed - You've completed the job and the Requestor is in the process of approving your job
Approved - The Requestor has successfully approved your job
Processing - Payment has been initiated using your preferred pay method
Processed - Payment transaction via your preferred pay method has been completed
Keep in mind, payments typically take 1-5 business days from when a job is completed to reflect on your account. If you are experiencing a delay with a payment beyond that, and have successfully received payments in the past with your current payment details, please do not re-enter or adjust your information. Doing so will likely cause more of a delay. Instead, follow these steps and reach out to our team so we can help.
As a Wonoloer, if you get diagnosed with COVID-19 and/or are ordered to individually quarantine by a recognized public health authority due to your risk of spreading COVID-19, Wonolo will provide financial assistance for up to 14 days while your Wonolo account is on hold. This financial assistance will be based on your average daily earnings over the 30 days prior to the diagnosis date. In order to ensure we can provide support to those who need it the most, we’ll provide financial assistance to you if any of the following happen:
You have an active case of COVID-19; or
You were individually ordered to a mandatory self-quarantine because you’re suspected to have an active case of COVID-19; or
You were individually ordered to a mandatory self-quarantine because you have pre-existing health conditions that put you at higher risk of serious illness due to COVID-19
To learn more, review Wonolo’s full Quarantine Pay policy.
If you have successfully submitted your information, background checks can take 72 hours or, sometimes, more to process. However, for most Wonoloers, checks clear in under 1 hour after they accept their first job that requires a background check. If you’ve been notified that a background check requires additional verification information to run, the background check will not complete unless you upload valid ID documentation through the Evident portal. Remember, you may be cancelled from the job that requires a background check if your background check is not complete and cleared before the start of the job that requires it. If you are removed from your first job that requires a background check, it’s often because our background check provider, Evident, needs additional information from you. Please check your inbox for an email from “Wonolo Background Checks” for more information, or email support@evidentid.com to follow up.
If you are trying to perform jobs that you have found on the Wonolo app, you should accept them through the Wonolo app and not perform them otherwise.
Work that is completed outside of the Wonolo platform will not qualify for insurance or liability coverage from Wonolo Inc. or its customers.
If you complete work without having accepted the job on the Wonolo app, you may work out payment directly with the Requestor, or request a backdated engagement in order to process pay via Wonolo.
Backdated Jobs
To request a backdated job, please notify our team within 72 hours of job completion. Wonolo reserves the right to decline to backdate a job for any reason, following the Wonolo Terms of Use.
Backdated job requests will be subject to the Trust & Safety Fee.
Background Checks
Individuals who have not successfully completed a background check will not be eligible to receive payment for any job they complete that required a background check (e.g., if the Wonoloer shows up to work a job that required a background check without accepting it on the app). In this situation, the Wonoloer must work directly with the Requestor to organize pay. After the individual clears Wonolo’s background check, he or she will be eligible to process pay via Wonolo for any Wonolo jobs that require a background check.
All jobs conducted through Wonolo require that the Wonoloer is covered by Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI). This insurance covers medical expenses, lost compensation, and benefits related to accidental injuries that occur during the course of an accepted job through the Wonolo App. OAI is industry-standard insurance used by contractors across the United States. OAI provides occupational accident benefits for independent contractors. The key difference is that Worker’s Compensation can only be attached to an employer, while OAI can be purchased by and attached to an independent contractor. Wonoloers are responsible for reporting any incidents and submitting claims. Wonolo asks that Requestors also submit any incidents within 5 days of the job completion date. Wonoloers can only accept positions you post on the Wonolo App when they have OAI that includes coverage for the following: Accident Medical Expense ● $1,000,000 maximum benefit as per policy schedule per person/accident ● Up to 104 weeks payment period limits of insurance ● $1,000 dental benefit maximum
Payments typically take 1-5 business days from when a job is completed to reflect on your account. While our goal is to get you paid as quickly as possible, there are some uncommon situations where a payment may be delayed or adjusted.
Keep in mind, payments from Wonolo are sent as ACH transfers (direct deposit) and may need additional processing time once your bank receives the funds.
If your payment is taking longer than 1-5 business days, or if you have a different payment issue, please reach out to the Wonoloer Support team. We’ll look into the situation and do everything we can to quickly get your payment to you.
When you reach out, please confirm these job details:
Name of the company
Name of the Requestor or any company contact
Date and time of job
Hours worked
Expected pay amount
If this is your first job or if you've recently changed your payment method, please double-check that your payment information has been added and verified through the Wonolo app.
Some businesses on Wonolo post jobs where you’ll need to show that you are familiar with the work environment or have the skills or experience needed to be successful on the job. To accept these jobs, you’ll first need to get that company’s badge on your Wonolo profile. Once you earn a company’s badge, you’ll unlock all future jobs posted by that business, as long as those jobs also require the same badge. In some cases, you may need multiple badges to show the Requestor that you're prepared to tackle the job duties. You can earn these badges a few different ways, including on the app or through a Tryout. The best place to start is by carefully reading the job description.
Earn It on the App
When a Requestor’s jobs require you to have their company’s badge, you’ll see it listed in the job description’s Required Badges section. If the job is a good fit but you don’t yet have the badge, review the full description, then scroll down and click Accept.
You’ll be shown a pop-up telling you which badge you’ll need and a link to get it. It varies by Requestor, but you may need to watch a video, complete an assessment, review safety guidelines etc. Once you have the badge, you can come back to the job to finish accepting it.
You might also see an alert on your app’s home screen when a new business starts posting jobs in your area with a badge requirement.
Attend a Tryout or In-person Orientation
Some jobs require you to complete a Tryout on-site to be best prepared for future jobs with that Requestor. Tryouts are paid, and can be accepted the same way as standard jobs on the app.
Successfully completing a Tryout grants you that company’s badge on your Wonolo profile and unlocks future jobs with that Requestor. If no Tryouts are currently available for a particular company, keep an eye out for the next time the Requestor schedules one.
Visit the Badge Library
Wonolo’s Badge Library can be accessed on the Wonolo app through the Wonoloer Hub. Our Badge Library features the most popular and in-demand badges and explains how you can proactively obtain them. Check the Badge Library periodically for new badges that you can add to your Wonolo profile.
A job can be cancelled for a number of reasons, including a change in a Requestor’s staffing needs. Our Cancellation policy is designed to provide some security to Wonoloers who plan their day around an upcoming job, while allowing businesses some flexibility to adjust their jobs based on changing staffing needs.
We ask that if Requestors do need to cancel a job, that they do so more than 12 hours before the job’s start time.
However, if your job is canceled by a Requestor at the last minute (within 12 hours of the posted start time), you will generally* receive a 50% cancellation payout (of the original pay posted) for the time and effort you put into preparing for the job.
You’ll then be able to pick up another available job right away.
For instance, if a job is scheduled to start on May 15th at 9am the Requestor will have until May 14th at 8:59:59pm if they need to cancel the job. If the job is cancelled after 9 pm on May 14th, you will receive the 50% cancellation payout. It will typically take 1-5 business days for you to receive payment.
There are a few other situations that may be eligible for a cancellation payout, though they aren’t common. If you encounter any of these, you’ll need to reach out to our Support team and may need to provide supporting documentation. These situations are detailed in our Terms and Conditions, and include:
Job site is closed upon your arrival
Incorrect information is provided in the job description (such that it prevents you from completing the job)
You are sent home due to the Requestor’s error (overstaffing or a job posted in error)
The Requestor substantially modified the job details within 12 hours of its start time (start time, location, duties, requirements, or pay)
*In extreme and uncontrollable situations that make working conditions unsafe or impracticable, cancellation payouts may not be offered. These events can include fires, floods, other extreme weather, strikes, pandemics, war or civil unrest, or a prolonged shortage of energy supplies.
If you received an email notice with the subjects below, it means that the report(s) provided by our third-party background check provider, Evident, received a negative result and your access to posted jobs that require background checks has been restricted:
"Wonolo Application approval Update"
"Wonolo Application Denied"
Please carefully review the information in this notice. If you wish to dispute the accuracy of the information in the report, please follow the instructions in the email and contact Evident at support@evidentid.com.
All participants in Wonolo’s community must abide by Wonolo’s User Equality Policy. Your safety is our highest priority. If you have experienced an unsafe or uncomfortable situation with another Wonoloer, or a Requestor’s employee, representative, or client, please notify an on-site contact and our team immediately. Wonolo reserves the right to terminate any Wonoloer or Requestor who has allegedly engaged in unsafe or unwarranted behavior, per the Terms of Use. Wonoloers may request to receive codes of conduct or information on anti-sexual harassment training, workplace relationships, and/or acceptable behavior from a Human Resources professional or an on-site contact at each job site where the Wonoloer contracts.
The Wonolo application does not guarantee that a Wonoloer will be able to see or accept any minimum number of jobs, or that a specific Requestor will post any jobs.
If you recently incurred a breach point due to a no show or late withdrawal, in accordance with the Breach Policy, your ability to view other jobs on the Wonolo platform may be limited.
To see your account's current status, open your Profile in the Wonolo app. Depending on the scenario, your account may be temporarily limited or permanently limited.
Temporary Limitation
Your view of available jobs will be limited for a period of 3 days or 7 days, depending on the breach point(s) that you incurred. Keep in mind, breach points expire.
Permanent Limitation
Your view of available jobs will be limited indefinitely. To remove this permanent limitation, you can complete Wonolo’s Second Chance Program and pass the accompanying quiz that covers your obligations when using the Wonolo platform. You can only complete the Second Chance Program a single time.
Avoiding Limitations
If you can’t make it to a job that you’ve accepted, please withdraw on the app as soon as possible. That way, you don’t get marked as a no-show, which automatically counts as 3 breach points resulting in a permanent limited view of jobs. Withdrawing allows us to open up your slot to open up to another Wonoloer in your community.
We know that things can come up, so if you can't make it to a job, please withdraw as soon as possible via the Wonolo app.
Not showing up to a job you accepted and forgetting to withdraw beforehand will heavily impact your account and future earnings, following the Breach of Contract policy. We don’t want to see that happen.
Once you withdraw from the job, we'll work on finding another Wonoloer in your community to help fill that opportunity.
Here's how to withdraw from a job:
Select the menu bar in the upper left corner on the app
Select My Jobs
Click on the job you want to withdraw from and scroll to the bottom
Click Withdraw and then confirm
Your profile photo is an important representation of who you are as a Pruuvn Pro. Requestors will see your profile photo to know who to expect when you show up to the job, so make sure you make a strong first impression with a clear and professional photo.
If you don't meet our profile photo requirements, your account may be suspended until you are able to update yours.
Take a look at our profile photo tips:
Open the menu from the upper left on the app
Select Profile
Click on your profile photo
Click Add photo
Click Take photo or Choose photo
Save your new profile photo
Requestors’ staffing needs occasionally change due to unforeseen circumstances. Requestors may also end a Wonoloer’s job if productivity or behavioral issues arise.
Here’s what to do if your job ends early:
Finish the task you are currently working on, if allowed to remain on the business’s premises
Collect your personal belongings
Arrange transportation home
Promptly and quietly depart the premises without disrupting the work environment
Contact Wonolo Support to report the end of your job and to ensure your pay is processed based on the hours you worked
Please refrain from contacting the Requestor about the end of your job, pay, or access to jobs.
If you have any questions or concerns about the end of your job, please reach out to our team.
If required, Wonolo will send you your 1099-MISC form by January 31st of each year. As a Wonoloer, you are an independent contractor and are responsible for filing your own taxes. While we facilitate the process, Wonolo is unable to provide you with any tax advice. As specified by IRS regulations, for each tax year, you will only receive a 1099-MISC form from Wonolo if you earned at least $600 for work you accepted through the Wonolo platform. For the 2019 tax year, we have already sent out the 1099-MISC tax form to an address on your Wonolo account. To ensure you receive your tax forms from Wonolo on-time each year, please make sure you have provided us with your full legal name and correct Social Security Number (SSN) when completing your account in the app. If you have questions about the information you previously provided, please reach out to our team. Please do not contact Requestors in order to obtain tax forms related to Wonolo jobs.
Requestors are often looking to invite the best Wonoloers back for more and more jobs. If you’re a great fit for the job, the Requestor can do that by adding you to their Preferred team. When a Requestor adds you to their Preferred team, you’ll gain early access to future jobs posted by that Requestor. Make sure you keep your notifications on. By being on a Requestor’s Preferred team, you’ll get notified about their new jobs first, so you can quickly accept them. However, jobs will still open up to the rest of the community if they’re not taken within a few hours. Keep in mind, some businesses on Wonolo may have multiple Requestors posting jobs and each one has a separate Preferred team. We typically see Wonoloers get added to Preferred teams when they are a great fit for the role and they follow the 5Ps:
There are a few possible reasons why a payment might fail. If you are alerted that one of your payments failed, it likely means you need to reach out to your bank or update your payment information on Wonolo. Given the limitations of AB5, we have made the tough decision to cease operations in California for all Wonoloers and Requestors, effective August 15th, 2020. There will no longer be California-based jobs available to accept on the Wonolo app that have a start time on or after August 15th, 2020. We have not made this decision lightly but have done so in order to protect businesses from the risks associated with the new legislation.
If you've worked for a company, or know of one that could benefit from using Wonolo, we'd love an introduction. You can refer a business by filling out the Business Referral Form. If the business becomes a Wonolo Requestor and spends $500 on the platform, you'll receive a $500 Amazon Gift card! After you refer a business, the Wonolo Sales team will contact them with next steps on signing up. In order to be eligible for a referral reward, the business you refer cannot have previously signed up to become a customer with Wonolo (including starting an application). The business you refer must use your Wonolo referral code to sign up, and they can’t have already been referred. Wonolo cannot guarantee that the business will complete signup as well as meet the minimum amount of spend required for the referral bonus to be paid.
Wonoloers get paid after each job. You can update your payment information at any time. We currently support sending job payouts to a bank account or debit card. Payments typically take 1-5 business days from when a job is completed to reflect on your account. You’ll receive payments from Wonolo as ACH transfers (direct deposit). To avoid delays, please make sure your payment information has been added and verified through the Wonolo app.
Each person who signs up for Wonolo must maintain his or her own Wonolo account. Following Wonolo’s Terms of Use, Wonoloers agree to accurately represent their identity and credentials when accepting a Wonolo job. To that end, sharing accounts, or allowing another individual to use your Wonolo account to accept jobs, is not allowed. If more than one individual is discovered to be using the same Wonolo account, both individuals may be deactivated from the Wonolo platform. If you are having difficulty accessing jobs or are unable to log into your Wonolo account, please immediately notify our team. For more information, review the Terms of Use (Section 8.1).
Whether you need to pass a background check to perform a job you have accepted depends on the business that has posted the job on our platform. If you accept a job that requires a background check, Wonolo will initiate that background check. Background checks are processed with the assistance of our third-party provider, Evident ID.
If I accept a job that requires a background check, what information is needed?
You must provide Evident with the following information via the Wonolo app in order to accept your first job:
Full Name & Date of Birth
Residential Address
Valid state or government-issued photo ID
Social Security Number
You also need to agree to a number of disclosures before a background check can run, including:
A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act
Disclosure Regarding Background Check Investigation
Acknowledgment and Authorization for Background Check
State Notice Addendum
When will a background check run?
Your background check starts running when you accept your first job on Wonolo that requires a background check. Your background check needs to clear before you show up to a Wonolo job. Once you have found a job in the Wonolo app that’s a good fit, click Accept to continue. You will first be prompted to review and confirm the job requirements. Then, if the job requires a background check, you’ll need to submit the information needed to run a background check. Once you do, you’ll be added to the job. If a background check is run, it will continue processing once you are slotted into the job, and you’ll be notified as soon as it completes. If your background check comes back as complete and clear, you will be able to work the selected job. In some cases, the background check can’t process unless you upload additional documentation to verify your identity. If this happens to you, you will be notified (likely via text and/or email) so you can quickly take action.
How long should it take for a background check to run?
Background checks can take up to 72 hours to process. However, for most Wonoloers, checks clear in under 5 minutes after they accept their first job that requires a background check. If you’ve been notified that a background check requires additional verification information to run, the background check will not complete unless you upload valid ID documentation through the Evident portal.
What does the background check review?
The background check covers a Public Records Search, Domestic & Global Terrorist Watchlist Search, National Criminal Screen and County Court Search(es) where adverse policy violations are found, and a Sex Offender Registry search where permitted by state law.
How can I check the status of my background check?
We'll email or text you when your background check kicks off and when it completes. If you need to take action on it, we may send you additional updates, including links to see your live status online. You can also email support@evidentid.com.
Unfortunately, Wonolo can’t provide you with tax advice as everyone’s situation is different and, in any case, we’re not tax professionals. If you need reliable guidance you will need to consult an accountant or other appropriate professional. Nonetheless, the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) has recognized how the gig economy is flourishing. Their Gig Economy Tax Center is a great starting point that might help you learn more about how to manage taxes as an independent contractor. Please note that all the information provided at that link is from the IRS’s website, and Wonolo cannot vouch that the information is accurate, complete, or up-to-date.
The Wonolo app uses your device's location services to find jobs near you. On average, the app uses about 25 MB of data per month. So, if you have a 10 GB monthly data limit, the app might use 0.25% of your data. However, the actual data usage will depend on a number of factors that are outside Wonolo’s control, including whether your phone is turned off, whether it’s receiving information only through Wi-Fi, etc.
You can input or change your preferred payment information at any time. To avoid delays, please make sure your payment information has been added and verified through the Wonolo app.
We currently support these payment options:
Bank Account (checking account)
Debit Card (Visa or Mastercard)
Here’s how to update your payment information:
Select the menu bar in the upper left corner on the app
Select Pay
Click into your preferred payment method (you can only choose one)
Input the required information, then save your payment details
Choosing Payment Methods
You are only able to link a single payment method at once.
Direct deposit is a payment option where your funds are electronically transferred to your checking account. To set this up, you’ll need the following types of information: name on account, bank routing number, checking account number, and address on account.
Debit cards are similar to credit cards. While deposits go into your checking account, a debit card is used to withdraw money from ATMs. If you are using a debit card, it must be a US non-prepaid Visa, Mastercard, or Discover debit card. To set this up, you’ll need to enter your debit card information.
Re-entering Payment Details
Payments typically take 1-5 business days from when a job is completed to reflect on your account. If you are experiencing a delay with a payment beyond that, and have successfully received payments in the past with your current payment details, please do not re-enter or adjust your information. Doing so will likely cause more of a delay.
Instead, follow these steps and reach out to our team so we can help.
Payment Verification
Your bank will either verify or inform us of any issues regarding your payment information once your first payment has processed. You may be required to verify your payment details with Stripe or another payment processor. If this happens with your account, you’ll receive an email from Stripe or another payment process with next steps to confirm information. For more information on payment processing, review the Terms of Use that govern your use of Wonolo and the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
If you get into a car accident during your job, please first determine if immediate medical attention or police assistance is needed. If so, contact 911 right away.
Here’s what you might want to do next:
Locate the insurance information for the vehicle
Exchange the vehicle owner’s insurance information and contact information with the other driver
Take extensive photos of all vehicles, damage, and the location of the accident
Submit the date, time, and street address of the accident, the other driver’s insurance details and contact information, photos, and a summary of any damage to the primary insurance carrier for the vehicle
Await medical or police assistance, where needed
Operating a Personally-owned Vehicle
Wonolo does not offer vehicle insurance coverage to Wonoloers.
Please contact your vehicle insurance carrier and/or local body shop for further assistance.
If you have a transportation issue, such as a car accident, before the job, make sure to withdraw from the job as soon as you can.
Operating a Vehicle Owned by a Requestor or Client
Wonolo does not offer vehicle insurance coverage for vehicles owned by Requestors.
Please locate the Requestor’s vehicle insurance information inside the vehicle. Contact the Requestor as soon as possible, to provide the details of the accident and photos of any damage. Together, determine if the vehicle needs to be provided back to the Requestor or to a local body shop for repairs.
What to Do Next
Please also notify our team within 24 hours of the accident.
A Support agent will send you Occupational Accident Insurance information and ensure that your rating and pay are finalized for your job.
In the following weeks, an insurance adjuster may contact you to obtain additional details about the accident, in order to reach a coverage decision.
This is a difficult question that has both legal and tax implications -- and we can’t provide you with legal advice or tax advice. Traditionally and simply, the difference has depended on a number of things, including whether you thought you were becoming an independent contractor, whether you had control over when you worked and which jobs you would accept, and whether you would receive a 1099 or W-2 tax form. If you need reliable guidance you will need to consult an appropriate professional.
Before you can start viewing available jobs, you’ll need to finish creating your Wonolo account. Read on for troubleshooting tips if you’ve completed your account and still do not see jobs.
Keep in mind, the Wonolo app does not guarantee you will see or be able to accept any minimum number of jobs, or that any minimum number of jobs will be posted by a specific Requestor.
App Settings
To receive alerts for nearby jobs, you might need to give the Wonolo app access to your location or allow it to send push notifications to your phone.
Breach Points
You might have incurred a breach point, possibly from a late withdrawal or a no-show. To see your account's current status, open your Profile in the Wonolo app. If you received a breach point, we are not sure if you intend to complete the jobs you had previously accepted. As a result, upcoming jobs may be cancelled. Further, your ability to accept new jobs is limited per the following:
First Breach = 3-day limited view of jobs
Second Breach = 7-day limited view of jobs
Third Breach = Permanent limited view of jobs
Business Needs
It’s possible that Requestors have decided to not post jobs in your location, or that they are only offering jobs for Wonoloers on their Preferred team. Or, Wonolo may not be actively operating in your area.
Deactivation
Your account might have been closed due to breach of your contractual agreement or failure to comply with a policy or procedure, like Wonolo’s Privacy or Acceptable Use Policies.
If you are concerned about a recent adjustment to your pay, please immediately notify Wonolo Support.
Here’s what to provide to our team when you reach out:
Your full name
The email address associated to your Wonolo account
The last four digits of your Social Security Number
A screenshot of the Pay tab within the Wonolo app
A screenshot of the Job Description, which includes the posted pay or adjusted pay
Screenshots of any email or text discussion about a pay rate
A brief summary of the overpayment or underpayment concern
Where possible, our Support Team will reach out to the Requestor to verify the essential duties of the job, actual duration of the job, the posted pay rate, and any adjusted rates or verbal agreements made regarding pay.
Please note, all Wonoloer pay will be evaluated against city and state minimum wage laws and will be subject to the Insurance Safety Fee (if applicable) and limitations or reductions set forth in the Terms of Use.

At Wonolo, we use lingo and phrases to describe our platform, policies, and benefits. Read on for some terms that are important to understand since you'll encounter them during your time with Wonolo. The more you know about Wonolo, the more you can get out of it.
Who uses Wonolo?
A Wonoloer is anyone who accepts and works jobs on the Wonolo platform. A Wonoloer that has done such great work that Requestors want them back for more and more shifts, is a Preferred Wonoloer. A Preferred Wonoloer gets early access to any future jobs posted by that Requestor.
A Requestor is someone posts jobs on the Wonolo app for their company, usually the shift supervisor. Some jobs posted on the Wonolo app have shifts that span multiple days, multi-day jobs. In order to accept and work these jobs, Wonoloers must be able to work all of the shifts listed.
Some jobs require you to complete a paid Tryout on-site to be best prepared for future jobs with that Requestor. By successfully completing a Tryout you earn that company’s badge and unlock future jobs with that Requestor.
What are badges?
Wonolo badges allow Wonoloers to show off their knowledge and skills to Requestors. Some badges help you unlock more jobs, while other badges are for bragging rights. For a full list of badges you can earn, check out the Wonolo Badge Library.
What are the 5Ps of Wonolo?
The most successful Wonoloers are those that display these characteristics while working a Wonolo job: Professional, Prepared, Positive, Polite, and Punctual. Being a top Wonoloer opens up more job opportunities and chances to earn more on the Wonolo app!
What is a Breach of Contract?
Our Breach Policy exists in order to make sure that we can provide the best opportunities for Wonoloers and the right level of service for Requestors. Receiving a breach point will limit your account access.
If a Wonoloer accepts a job and can no longer work, they must withdraw from the shift at least 12 hours before the job start time. Late withdrawals result in one Breach Point.
A no-show, not working or failing to withdraw from an accepted job, leads to permanent suspension from the Wonolo platform.
We recommend that you get familiar with our Breach Policy to avoid issues that could impact your account.
What perks does Wonolo offer?
A wide range of benefits, perks, and programs are available to Wonoloers in the Wonoloer Hub. You can connect with other Wonoloers in your community, compete to make it onto the Leaderboard, or learn about current Wonolo news.
Wonolo Up offers perks and benefits available to Wonoloers no matter who you work for. From daily discounts on auto and phone services, dental coverage, and tax prep assistance, there is a benefit that can help any Wonoloer.
Receiving an unanticipated payment amount may be a result of a negative balance on your account. A negative balance, or overpayment, occurs when the posted pay amount is processed prior to the Requestor making adjustments based on the work performed. Requestor adjustments are either an addition or deduction to the posted pay, typically based on hours actually worked.
A negative balance due to overpayment is the same as the adjustment amount. A 20% deduction will automatically be made to successive job payments until the outstanding amount is zeroed out.
You can view a breakdown of your outstanding negative balance through the Pay tab in the app.
Payment adjustments typically occur due to further information about the actual hours worked. Wonolo values hard work and wants you to get paid fast. To do this, we work to help Wonoloers receive payments quickly and allow some adjustments to be made after the pay has been processed.
Here’s what some of the payment terms mean:
Original Pay - Pay amount visible in the job description prior to accepting a job
Bonus Pay - Bonus/incentive pay added on top of the original pay
Reimbursement Amount - Reimbursements offered by the Requestor including tips, additional incentives, or reimbursements for toll fees, as specifically described in the job description
Trust and Safety Fee - Fee counts towards Occupational Accident Insurance and is calculated based on the entire posted job duration
Sub-Total - Payment that is processed before the Requestor makes adjustments
Adjusted Balance Payment - Payment adjusted due to overpayment from previous jobs
Total Payment - Payment amount that includes Requestor adjustments

Some jobs posted on the Wonolo app may require that you own and operate a personal vehicle, or that you operate a company-owned vehicle, in order to complete a delivery route.
Often, these jobs will require you to have the Clean MVR badge on your profile to show the Requestor you have a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Here’s what you may want to confirm before accepting a delivery job that requires a personal vehicle:
Your personal vehicle is appropriately sized to receive and transport delivery orders
Your personal vehicle insurance policy is active
Your personal vehicle insurance meets any personal and commercials insurance requirements in your state
Your vehicle registration and tags are up-to-date
Your vehicle has passed all state-mandated inspections
You are licensed to drive in the area where you will be providing delivery service
You are prepared to navigate various parking situations at pick-up and delivery locations (businesses, private residences, etc.)
Here’s what you may want to confirm before accepting a delivery job that requires a company-owned vehicle:
You are licensed to drive in the area where you will be providing delivery service
You are licensed to operate a truck, van, or commercial-sized vehicle (where applicable)
You are familiar with the operation and upkeep of trucks, vans, or commercial-size vehicles
You are prepared to navigate various parking situations at pick-up and delivery locations (businesses, private residences, etc.)
Please note, Wonolo does not offer vehicle insurance coverage for vehicles owned by Wonoloers or for vehicles owned by Requestors. Make sure you’re prepared in case of a car accident while completing a job request.
In order to best connect Pruuvn Pro's with available jobs, Pro's must provide accurate information about their identity, location and job interests. To that end, Pro's are only permitted to maintain one Pruuvn account, in order to uphold integrity and trust in the Pruuvn Community. If more than one Pruuvn account is associated with you, the additional account(s) will be closed, and all upcoming jobs associated with the closed accounts will be canceled. If you are unable to log in to your Pruuvn account, please do not create a new Pruuvn account. Instead, contact Pruuvn Support for assistance recovering your account.
Wonolo’s executive team is working closely with local officials and policy advocates to discuss what the future of work should look like in California, as we, along with many other gig economy companies do not believe AB5 is the answer. We will continue to fight both locally and nationally for the best interests of Wonoloers and the businesses that make up this incredible community.

Payments typically take 1-5 business days from when a job is completed to reflect on your account. However, in some cases, they can take longer. Payments are sent as ACH transfers (direct deposit) via Stripe or another payment processor and may need additional processing time once your bank receives the funds. To avoid delays, please make sure your payment information has been added and verified through the Wonolo app. Wonolo will sometimes offer promotions you can opt into. Unless otherwise specified, any incentive payments will be paid out as set forth in the terms of such promotion or once the promotion period has ended. For example, if you opt in and qualify for a promotion to earn an extra $100 upon completing 5 jobs in March, the earliest we’ll be able to process your $100 incentive payout is April 1st, though it might take longer. You may be required to verify your payment details with Stripe or another payment processor. If this happens with your account, you should receive an email from the payment processor with next steps to confirm your information. For more information on payment processing, you can review the Terms of Use that govern your use of Wonolo and the following: Stripe: Online payment processing for internet businesses; Stripe Connected Account Agreement.

Do you recommend any additional resources?
Gig Workers' Collective COVID-19 page provides helpful resources at both the national and state levels. They note that “many programs require a short application process, and it is key to do this now before the process is backlogged. You have some options if you're in need of food, help paying rent, your bills etc.”
Gig Workers Rising also has a page dedicated to coronavirus resources with tips on staying healthy depending on the kind of work you’re doing, plus how to best access medical care and applying for benefits.
If you accept a job that requires a background check, you may receive an update that our third-party background check provider, Evident, was unable to return a result with the information you provided. If this is the case, the background check requires additional verification information. The check will not be able to complete unless you upload valid ID documentation securely through the Evident portal. You will likely receive an email on the steps needed to verify your identity so your background check can properly run. You can expect to search for an email with the subject line: Action Required to Complete Your Background Check (Time Sensitive) If you receive this email, please click the yellow Begin Now button to verify your identity by uploading your selfie and a photo of your ID as soon as possible. You can do this on any device. Don't wait on this - your background check can’t be completed without it, and certain jobs require your background check to be completed. Please be sure to upload a clear copy of your ID as soon as possible:
The image must be high quality, unobstructed
The image must show the full document and can’t be cropped
Pro-tips when uploading an image of your ID:
Lay your ID on a flat surface
Ensure you're in a well-lit area
The photo should not contain any shadows
For a step-by-step guide on how to upload your ID and selfie, read on here.

A clear and accurate profile photo is a requirement to accept jobs on the Wonolo platform. Requestors will use your profile photo to confirm attendance when you show up to a job, so make sure your photo can be easily used to identify who you are. If you don’t meet our profile photo requirements, your account may be suspended until you are able to update your photo.
Here are our profile photo requirements:
Your photo should be a representation of you, so avoid glamour shots or filters that significantly change how your face looks
Avoid taking a picture of a picture, as this results in lower quality images
Dress professionally and look directly at the camera
We are excited to announce a few updates to Wonolo to improve your experience. These updates were driven by Wonoloer feedback collected from support tickets, surveys, and interviews. One of our main goals with these changes is to create a more accurate and fair rating system, one based more on what is in your control (being on time and preventing no-shows & late withdrawals), rather than Requestor ratings, which are more subjective. These changes launched on May 20th, 2020.
Breach Policy
Our breach policy has been updated to be more fair to Wonoloers and easier to understand:
Wonoloers no longer receive Breach Points for low star ratings
Wonoloers no longer receive Breach Points for early withdrawals (12+ hours before a job starts)
Reliability Stats
Wonolo is phasing out the 5-star rating system, which is how Requestors have traditionally provided feedback on Wonoloers. Starting May 20th, some Wonoloers will begin seeing Reliability Stats instead of 5-Star ratings on their profile: It’s worth noting that:
We are testing this feature and will be rolling it out to more Wonoloers over time, so it’s ok if you don’t see it at first
For now, these stats will only be shown on your personal profile
Achievement Badges
Since the Achievement Badge program is tied to the 5-star rating system, we are no longer issuing Gold, Silver or Bronze Achievement badges:
Wonoloers who have earned Gold Badges will have their 3% extra pay grandfathered in, as long as they work at least 1 job a month
For everyone else, we will be launching a new program in early June tied to skill certification and increased earning potential
We are exceptionally grateful for the Wonoloer community and the feedback we’ve received to help inform these changes. Please keep an eye out for upcoming updates as we continue to work hard on improving how Wonolo works for Wonoloers.
If you spot an error on the 1099-MISC form delivered to you, please reach out to our Support team as soon as possible. If your name, email, address, SSN is incorrect, you can correct that information via the app or you may reach out to us so we can make the changes after we verify your account. To verify your account, you'll need to send 3 details that match the ones currently on your account. These details may be any of the following:
Email address
Phone number
ZIP code
Last 4 digits of SSN
Last 4 digits of the payment card used
Physical address
Date of birth

The Healthy Workplace Hygiene Badge contains vital information from the Center for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC) for identifying symptoms and reducing the spread of the coronavirus. To maximize the safety of you and the Wonolo community, this badge is required for accepting new Wonolo jobs during this time.
In some cases, a background check can’t process unless you upload additional documentation to verify your identity. If this happens to you, we’ll notify you (likely via email and/or text) so you can quickly take action. You will likely be asked to upload the following identification documents securely via the Evident portal:
Valid state or government issued ID with photo (front and back of ID required)
A photo of yourself to match and verify your identity
Once you receive the email requesting for more information, make sure you have your valid ID and smartphone on hand. The images you upload may be rejected if your ID is invalid or if the photo is blurry and can't be read. If required, you'll only have a few tries to resubmit valid images as explained below.
Accepted Form of ID
Make sure you are using a valid government-issued photo ID and that it is not expired. Currently, these are the forms of ID that are accepted:
State issued ID Cards
Driver's Licenses
US-issued Passports
Permanent Resident Cards
No Saved Photos
Photos must be taken and uploaded in real-time. You cannot upload a previously saved photo. You are limited to three attempts to capture the best photos. To avoid limitations on your account access, please contact Wonolo Support if after the third attempt you are unable to upload photos of your ID.
Low Quality Image
If you need to upload a selfie, make sure you take a selfie with good lighting, head-on. Please don't take selfies at an angle or with a filter.
To avoid delays, it's crucial you upload a quality photo of your ID, if required. Place your ID flat on a dark background, and do not use flash since can cause glare. Also, make sure you're using a photo ID, and are not covering up any part of it. If your image is blurry or has other quality issues, you’ll see this screen which suggests ways to take a better photo:
You’re allowed to retry uploading photos two more times. After those two attempts, if you still can’t upload photos of your ID, please contact Wonolo Support because your account may be limited due to the multiple failed attempts.
If you’re experiencing a delay receiving your payment, you may be required to verify your identity by uploading a copy of your valid legal ID through the Wonolo App. After your account has been verified, your payments will be processed.
If you see the below Pay Out Error alert on your home page, click on Verify Now and follow the prompts.
When uploading your ID, please follow these guidelines to make sure it is accepted to avoid further delays.
Here are accepted forms of ID you can upload:
Driver’s License
State Identification Card
Permanent Resident Card
Passport
Some tips for successful verifications:
The photo must be high quality and clear
No blurry photos
All four corners of your ID should be within frame and all text must be legible
Breach points are only counted if you incurred them within the last 30 days. After 30 days, breach points effectively expire. You can incur a breach point from a withdrawal within 12 hours of the start time or by asking the Requestor to cancel the job for you. That breach point on your account expires 30 days after it was received. For example, let's say on April 3rd, you received your first breach point. On April 17th, you received another breach point. At this point, there are now 2 breaches on your account. Assuming you don’t incur an additional one, your first breach point will expire on May 3rd. Now, there is just one breach on your account. On May 17th, your second breach will also expire which will bring you down to 0 breaches. Don't let breach points pile up. Remember, receiving 3 breaches on your account in a span of 30 days will result in a permanent limited view of jobs and removal from all accepted jobs. Learn more in our overview of the Breach of Contract policy.
To provide Wonoloers with access to a fast, flexible payment experience, Wonolo has partnered with Wisely to offer quick pay via the Wisely Paycard.
With Wisely Direct, you’ll receive your pay within 1-3 days upon completing a Wonolo job, versus the standard 3-5 days.
The Wisely Paycard is a reloadable debit card account that allows you to access your pay anywhere, anytime through the myWisely app. Through this app, you can manage your money, find nearby ATMs, see spending trends, and set aside savings.
There is no cost to sign up, no hidden fees, and no credit check required. The card is yours to keep and use no matter where you work, whether on the Wonolo platform or elsewhere.

As a Wonoloer, you are an independent contractor for all jobs you choose to accept via the Wonolo mobile app. There is no employment contract whatsoever with Wonolo nor the Requestors you will or have worked with. While we can't provide any legal advice, independent contractors generally are not eligible for unemployment benefits.
Background checks are an important part of the onboarding process for Wonoloers who accept a job that requires a background check. When required, background checks are facilitated by a third-party provider, Evident. In some cases, the background check can’t process unless you upload additional documentation to verify your identity.
The images you upload can get rejected if your ID is invalid or if the photo is blurry and can't be read. You'll only have a few tries to resubmit them, if needed. When you're ready, you can click on Begin Now and follow these steps:
Look out for an email to upload photos of your ID to verify your identity
You’ll see this screen when you click Begin Now in the email, so enter your phone number and click the Start button to continue
You’ll receive a text message with a link to upload your photos
Click on the link in the text message to be prompted to take photos of the front of your ID
Follow the prompts to take photos of the back of your ID
The last step is to upload a selfie
You’ll see this screen when you’ve successfully submitted all three photos, which means your background check has resumed processing and you'll recieve an update when it completes
To work jobs on Pruuvn, you’ll need to create your account on the Pruuvn web or mobile app, and complete your Pruuvn onboarding. Additionally, if you accept a job that requires a background check, you will need to pass that before performing the job.

Our Breach Policy exists in order to make sure that we can provide the best opportunities for Wonoloers and the right level of service for businesses. If you receive a breach point, you’ll be cancelled from any upcoming jobs, as well as:
First Breach = 3-day limited view of jobs
Second Breach = 7-day limited view of jobs
Third Breach = Permanent limited view of jobs
Here's how breaches are incurred:
1 Breach point = Withdrawing from a job within 12 hours of the start time
1 Breach point = Asking the Requestor to cancel the job for you
3 Breach points = Any no-show/cancellation after the start time
We know that life sometimes gets in the way of work, and we don’t want late withdrawals to hold you back for long. That’s why we only count Breach points that you’ve incurred in the last 30 days. After 30 days, breach points expire. If you can’t make it to a job that you’ve accepted, please withdraw on the app as soon as possible. That way, you don’t get marked as a no-show, which automatically counts as 3 breach points (permanent limited view of jobs). Withdrawing allows us to open up your slot to another Wonoloer in your community.
